Tomi Sushi, San Jose, CA
Tried their sushi omakase this time. I was quite surprised the server actually come to take our order even though we were seated at the sushi bar. I guess the restaurant has adapted to the western way.
The special miso soup was really good. I love the fish fillets they put in there. The bones were a bit troublesome to work with but I wasn’t too discouraged.
The omakase came with 11 pieces of nigiri, negitoro maki and a piece of their lovely tamago. The kanpachi and hamachi were great. Chu toro and hamachi belly were wonderful. The uni was as notorious as usual and that was really no surprise. I don’t understand why such a great sushi joint can’t source some nicer uni.
Price was on the expensive side considering how ordinary the cuts were. Quality was decent but for this price range I might prefer other sushi joints. Their ala carte white board specials were far more attractive. The whole aji sashimi certainly looked wonderful.
